It 'been over a month now since we consacrato la nostra unione davanti a Dio a Santiago de Compostela. E’ un lasso di tempo ancora breve ma forse non così breve da impedirci di guardare con una retrospettiva attendibile al significato della nostra scelta.

E nel farlo abbiamo una certezza: quella di sposarci a Santiago il 31 luglio 2009 è stata una delle decisioni più riuscite della nostra vita perché ci ha permesso di vivere, forse nel modo più pieno possibile, la spiritualità e le forti sensazioni che accompagnano il matrimonio. Il giorno in cui ci si sposa è un giorno speciale per tutti, a prescindere dal luogo del matrimonio e dal contesto sociale e familiare di riferimento. Tuttavia, il fatto che questo giorno sia, in genere, circondato da profili più prettamente mondani (la scelta del vestito, la lista nozze, il ricevimento ecc.) porta necessariamente ad occuparsi di questioni più prosaiche e, quindi, rischia di sviare la sensibilità di chi sta per sposarsi dall’unica cosa che conta davvero: l’esistenza di un rapporto unico instaurato con un’altra persona assieme alla quale si è assunta una scelta di vita fondamentale che si concretizza proprio il giorno del matrimonio.

L’esserci sposati in maniera assai sobria con gli indumenti che indossiamo ogni giorno, con un semplice bouquet di fiori a fare da contorno ed alla sola presenza dei nostri genitori ci ha permesso di vivere un matrimonio che non esitiamo a definire da favola. Un ambiente come quello descritto ci ha consentito di concentrarci sui nostri sentimenti, cioè l’amore fra noi due, quello dei nostri genitori, la consapevolezza di aver intrapreso un percorso non facile da affrontare ma nel quale non ci troveremo soli. Non si è trattato semplicemente di una cerimonia religiosa; quello che abbiamo vissuto è stata soprattutto una esperienza spirituale completamente appagante e così forte che magari, anche per i prossimi anni, ci aiuterà a mantenerci forti e ad essere delle persone migliori.

A parte il fascino legato alla sua storia, si tratta di un posto ove sono confluiti, nel corso di più di un millennio, le preghiere, le speranze, i dolori e la devozione di tanta gente. Rappresenta, allora, un luogo ideale per chi arrivaa al giorno del matrimonio con un forte spirito religioso.

Non dimenticheremo mai l’omelia tenuta da don Juan Filgueiras Fernandez, il parroco della cattedrale. Don Juan ha sempre dimostrato grande disponibilità e simpatia nei nostri confronti, pur avendolo incontrato personalmente solo la sera precedente il matrimonio. Durante la celebrazione è andato anche oltre: quasi calandosi completamente nei nostri panni, ha compreso il significato della nostra scelta ed ha pronunziato parole che, secondo noi, l’hanno ancora di più valorizzata.

Per ragioni contingenti abbiamo potuto percorrere solo una parte molto contenuta del cammino verso Santiago. Siamo, tuttavia, contenti così. In realtà, basta anche solo un giorno di percorso, attraversando città e paesi ad esso ispirati, incontrando altri pellegrini ed ammirando i paesaggi circostanti, per far comprendere la bellezza e la suggestione della via che porta alla tomba dell’apostolo Giacomo.

Probabilmente tutto quanto sopra descritto non si sarebbe mai realizzato senza l’attenzione riservataci da Francesco e Michela Dragoni, pionieri del cammino degli sposi, ma soprattutto amici di chi compie la scelta di sposarsi a Santiago.
